A salty breeze whips the tears from my eyes as I stare out at the emerald Irish Sea. Everything I’ve lost, the child my great grandmother Nellie lost, all feels so present here, in the land my family left years ago. How will I ever move on? Will I ever uncover the truth about the little girl who went missing all those years ago?
This is a gorgeous, heart-breaking, totally immersive story of an Irish family’s legacy.

CONCEPT
Happily-ever-after often means crossing seemingly insurmountable hurdles, solving one’s own life problems and actually choosing to be happy. I provided my heroine, Erin, with a tragedy, and gave her a mystery to solve, providing her with the will to cope with her own tragedy in unfolding the mystery of Nellie’s child, lost when Nellie was forced to emigrate during the famine.
Can you imagine losing a child. I mean, literally losing her on the dock in a strange country? Unimaginable, perhaps, but harder, even, to imagine a mother’s determination to survive for her younger son while coping with this horrific event.
