A Hard-Boiled Classic showcasing an intelligent and driven heroine, and an author who writes with high style. A blend of Donald Westlake’s PARKER novels with a suggestion of MODESTY BLAISE, the novel is tailor-made for fans of action, suspense and intrigue. Jessie is a genuinely tough and tough-minded protagonist who isn’t interested in taking prisoners in her quest to see justice done. It would be shame if Chris Lewando doesn’t bring readers more exploits of Jessie and her unique and often brutal brand of scale-balancing.

“A dark and deadly story, one to keep your attention, page after page. Having read a previous spine-tingling, roller-coaster thrill ride from Chris Lewando, I knew that I was in for yet another rip-roaring read. Jessie Running is anything but a dry, slow moving and drawn out British mystery. The well-developed character and tight, fast-paced plotting is typical Lewando. Like with every Lewando mystery that I have ever had the pleasure to read, the ending to Jessie Running will blow you away.

“A new British Mystery Mistress – Dame Lewando. Reviewed in the United States 2020. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat, with lots of twists and turns. It’s pretty dark, and has a very good underlying message about revenge. Some of the content is really dark and disturbing, but then, this definitely isn’t a fairy tale story, or one for those who want to remain blissfully ignorant of the crimes and injustices that take place in our world.

“Impossible to put down. Genuinely one of the best written books I’ve read in a long time. You are imagining the settings in your mind as you read. I opened it and read 28 pages just standing there and have found it impossible to put down. A rare book where you want to know what happens to the characters after you have finished it. A real talent. “

“The heroine is utterly believable and the storyline is breathtaking. One of the best books I have read for quite a while.”
