Reviews of Death of a Dream

5 stars - A luscious goody bag of imaginative writing. I've recently read Sue/Chris's miscellany in its latest incarnation. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this selection of her writings. It displays her remarkable versatility, from the lightest of humour - the 12 episodes about the day-to-day of a 'masseuse' in 'Personal Services' - to the most heartfelt memoir about the tragic death of her sister in a horrific car accident. But those are just two out of a goody bag crammed with memorable writing, inventive storytelling and imaginative reach, not to mention a perfectly constructed sonnet. I laughed and I cried. Magic! J Butterfield.

5 stars. A truly exceptional read. Every piece is captivating. The stories, although short and sometimes only snippets, draw you in completely, and I enjoyed the poems too, a genre not normally to my taste. I cannot recommend this highly enough, and I will certainly read more by this author. Anne in Spain.

5 stars. Intelligent and thought provoking. Chris Lewando is becoming one of my favorite authors. This is the second book by Chris that I’ve read and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s filled with short stories, poems, and interesting snippets. Her writing is top notch and intelligent. Chris’s characters come alive and linger in your thoughts well after you’ve finished reading. One of the short stories, House Ghost, was to be the start of a new novel. I would love to read more of that one! Chris is accomplished in whatever genre she chooses to write, whether it’s sci-fi, paranormal, or thriller. I’ve loved them all. Sherie.
